I consider myself one of the luckiest people I know.
I’m pretty convinced that the reason is that I ALWAYS say “YES” (without thinking) when someone asks me to do something. From what I can see, most people don’t do that. In fact, I’ve had a lot of people tell me that I need to stop saying yes to everything and be more discerning with my time.
Honestly though, I believe that this is the secret ingredient to being lucky. I’ve written about this before.
Yesterday I was feeling particularly embraced by the universe for a variety of reasons — though all resulting from my ”Just Say Yes” credo. Take, for example, my lunch date.
A few months ago I spoke at the Media Bistro Circus. A young woman named Marny Smith saw a video from that day and emailed me to see if we could get together. We had lunch a few weeks ago and over the course of the meal she mentioned that her boyfriend works at Google.
(For those of you who don’t know me, I’m OBSESSED with Google, think it is the coolest, most profound company.)
Cut to a few weeks later, yesterday, and I find myself having lunch on the most beautiful day on the rooftop of the Google offices with Marny and her boyfriend.

BIG thanks to Marny for making that happen and to her fabulous boyfriend Michael for inviting me. I left there feeling like I was the luckiest person in the world for having met them.
